The Technology Behind RandoConnect

RandoConnect uses WebRTC (Web Real-Time Communication) for peer-to-peer video and audio. This means your conversation travels directly between your device and your partner's device — our servers only coordinate the initial handshake. Your media stream is end-to-end encrypted and never stored anywhere.

Matching is powered by a custom queue-based algorithm written in Node.js, with Socket.IO for real-time signaling. Sessions are isolated per pair, text chat is ephemeral (deleted on disconnect), and reports are logged for moderation review only.

The entire stack is open-source friendly, HTTPS-only, deployed behind modern security headers (CSP, HSTS, XSS protection), and audited for common web vulnerabilities. We take privacy engineering seriously.
